Butterflies: Inside and out


The India Leaf butterfly, a native to Asia, shows a striking difference in its wing patterns. The one above shows the top side of its wing when spread and the photo below is with its wings folded. Its hard to believe it's the same butterfly.


This butterfly, Cairns Birdwing, also from Aisa (above and below) also shows a striking difference in the two surfaces of it's wings. Unless you watch carefully you might easily think you were seeing two different butterflies.
